How do you choose the right size rug?

Does the furniture belong on top of the carpet? How much of the floor is left exposed?

1. It's a good idea to assemble the different functions of the home on different rugs, this way you make it easier to visualize the space. Choose a rug that fits furniture with the same function around and on top of it.

2. Carpet for the dining area

Carpet Under the dining table, you should measure at least one meter wider than the dining table. So it would be good for the rug to be at least 50 cm larger than the table top on all sides. When the carpet is large enough, the legs of the chairs can fit on the carpet.

3. Living room carpet

Living rooms and sitting areas get a beautiful look with carpets and carpets create the desired atmosphere. Textiles acousticize the space, hard surface furniture, walls and floors increase the echo, the carpet calms the space's sound world. The sound quality of music or, say, television improves on the carpet.

The size of the living room carpet is often planned according to the furniture. The best result is achieved with a sufficiently large carpet. It is always better to choose one large rug than two small ones. The rug should be clearly longer than the sofa. If the carpet and sofa are the same length, the carpet looks shorter than the sofa when looking at the room.

The carpet in the living room ties the furniture together. The carpet should be placed partially under the sofa, or in a really large room, the furniture can be completely on top of the carpet.

4. Bedroom carpet

In the bedroom, the carpet creates space.

The soft, pleasant materials suit the bedroom well. The material must be easy to care for. A high-quality pile carpet in the bedroom does not electrify and is easy to vacuum and clean.

Textiles acousticize the bedroom and the carpet plays a big role in this. A carpet makes the bedroom quieter and it's nice to spend time there.

A sufficiently large carpet creates a luxurious look. The carpet may last less than a year. For example, a 200×300 cm carpet fits well under a 160/180×200 bed. Place the carpet by leaving floor space for the nightstands, the carpet protrudes approx. 50 cm on three sides of the bed.

5. Hallway carpet

The hallway is the calling card of the home, it creates the first impression of the interior of the entire home. A lot is required of a carpet in the hall, it has to last and look good in everyday life and at parties.

Hallways look better with sufficiently wide carpets. The carpet must be at least as wide as the front door. The floor should be left visible at the edges a little (5-10 cm), this way the space looks spacious and is still easy to maintain when cleaning. In general, one mat works better than several smaller mats. In long corridors, several carpets can break up the length of the corridor to make it look like a room. The recommendation is that a single hallway carpet should not be more than 450 cm long. An 8-10 meter long corridor should be implemented with two carpets.
